The Doc Bob brand Dog Kennel carried at Tractor Supply replaced the AKC kennels that were once stocked. The kennels come in 6 panels, 5 panels and 1 gate. The full kennel measures 6ft tall, 5ft wide and 10ft long.
A positive feature of this kennel is the lack of chainlink. This kennel is made with heavy gauge welded wire, 2″x4″ holes. For the price, you get an eye pleasing secure kennel to use for your pooch.
A downfall of this kennel is the galvanization doesn’t seem to hold up for very long when being used with males. The urine breaks down the galvanization on the kennel and causes the panel to rust. I started noticing rust within a few months of use. I do find the single panels cheap enough to purchase in the future when the rust gets to be too much.
Given the option, I’d still purchase this kennel setup over chainlink. I’ve sworn off chainlink due to some of my larger crew can bend it easily.
I need to purchase 3 of the Doc Bob 5’x6′ Kennel gates to match 4 that I already have in my kennels. I purchased them from Tractor Supply but they do not carry them now. Where can I purchase them now?
Beverly, we were upset to learn this as well as the ones we have here have started to show wear (rust). I don’t like the new, ‘modular’, kennels they’re offering now. They just don’t feel sturdy enough. Honestly, we’re going to be switching to the Tarter Kennels when we expand our boarding business. I know that doesn’t help you but I’ve been happy with the Lucky Dog brand kennels we use inside (they were the only ones I could find in 4ft wide – what we needed, they also come 5ft). They’re black coated and seem to be holding up well. You can get them from Home Depot for order directly from https://www.jewettcameron.com, they gave us a great deal. I hope that helps a little.
Yes agree, I need them too
I also purchase Doc Bob Kennels, I bought them kept them in a building out of the weather off the ground the floor was concrete and I put them on wood blocks as well. When I started putting them up a few months later, they were rusted, Keep in mind they had never been in the weather. I had no choice but use them as I had paid a lot of money for them. They have continued to rust. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED with the Quality of these kennels. But as some one else said they are better than chain link, I guess.
